Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) from Microsoft is a comprehensive virtualization platform for both Desktops and Applications. It’s hosted in the Azure cloud and managed by Microsoft. A proper turnkey solution for teams looking to virtualize their workspace while avoiding the complications of hosting a platform themselves. The service includes optimizations for multi-session Windows 10 desktops, Microsoft 365 applications, and support for RDS environments. AVD addresses a broad range of needs from business continuity to Work-From-Home (WFH) initiatives.

The LEAF OS license is a perpetual license assigned to the device used during the activation process. To transfer that license to a different device you must use NComputing's PMC Endpoint Manager software. The currently activated device must be registered with PMC. Then, using PMC you can remove the license from the currently activated device, and then you can re-use the same license key to activate the new device. When the license is removed from a device then that device immediately executes a factory reset and return the LEAF OS software to its inactivated state.

VERDE Client connections from LEAF OS are supported and require separate VERDE Seat licensing.
Two license types are supported. Both are concurrent connection models:

  • VERDE-WFH-1A-10 (VERDE VDI Suite - Remote Access 10-seat license, annual subscription)

This license type allows Remote Access connections to PCs through the VERDE Connection Broker and is the most affordable option.

Yes, devices with LEAF OS can be deployed and managed with other NComputing thin clients using the vSpace Pro Enterprise Edition (version 12.5.2 or newer).

Included in the vSpace Pro Enterprise Edition release (version 12.5.2 or higher), vSpace Console can manage a subset of LEAF OS device configurations for LEAF OS related to vSpace configuration parameters and provide integrated user session management of LEAF OS devices (e.g., Multi-View, remote view, take over, message, stop/pause).
For full LEAF OS feature set management, the separate NComputing PMC Endpoint Management solution (version 2.6.1 or higher) is required.

LEAF OS is deeply integrated with vSpace Pro Enterprise session to provide extensive USB peripheral compatibility. Supported USB peripheral devices in vSpace sessions include:

  • USB webcams for video conferencing
  • USB printers and network printers
  • USB mass storage devices
  • USB & analog audio devices including headsets and speaker
  • USB smart card readers and security keys
  • Signature pads
  • Touch screens
  • Com ports

The vSpace Client and VERDE Client connection mode is enabled without any LEAF OS device activation. However, un-activated LEAF OS devices will not be able to perform any software/firmware updates and cannot be managed by PMC Endpoint Management.
For full LEAF OS feature set management and software/firmware update capability, the separate NComputing PMC Endpoint Management solution (version 2.6.1 or higher) is required.

Unlike the NComputing RX300 thin client devices, the LEAF OS devices do not include embedded vSpace Client connection licenses. Appropriate vSpace Client connection licenses need to be purchased and added to the vSpace Pro Enterprise deployments to allow uninterrupted vSpace Client connections from LEAF OS devices. Without the necessary licenses, the vSpace sessions will run in trial mode and will be disconnected after 10 minutes.
