Virtualizing our desktop environment and using thin clients has reduced operating costs by 30 percent before you factoring in the value of energy savings and simplifying operations. Troubleshooting workstations – and the attendant wait to recover and install a new machine – is a thing of the past. Now, our employees are up and running in their personal desktop environments in a matter of seconds by simply moving from one thin client to another.

The traditional approach to VDI offered by VMware and Citrix is too complex and expensive to deliver efficient desktop virtualization. This solution has made VDI affordable and reduces the overall CAPEX for desktop infrastructure. VERDE VDI offers unified management and reporting through a single console and is adaptable for today’s dynamic environment.

We have successfully deployed VERDE VDI in our outpatient clinics providing desktop virtualization to 250 of our hospital staff.
Compared to the previous product, the performance of VM is faster, and the method to deploy the VM is also easy and convenient.

We have deployed VERDE VDI for several customers and are also using it ourselves.

Customers could not believe the quickness of installing and running VDI for their company. Within a week all desktops where replaced with RX300 devices and they could work from home, at the office or anywhere they want, even without a client by using the HTML5 browser.

We deployed VERDE VDI to approximately 120 of our employees. We have used other VDI solutions that required us to maintain and support multiple servers running different roles. With VERDE VDI the exact same result is achieved with just a single server. Our end users embraced the change to the VERDE VDI environment and noted that the experience was quite similar to using a regular physical PC. Upgrading Operating Systems and applications which would normally take us months can now be completed in hours.

What operating systems does VERDE support?

Mon, 11/19/2018 - 13:51 -- Phil Mason

VERDE supports Windows and Linux based desktop OSs as equal citizens and these desktop VMs can be run simultaneously in any VERDE based host system. Currently we support Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 as either 32-bit or 64-bit desktop implementations.  Windows Server 2008, 2012r2 and Server 2016 are also supported when running in Desktop Experience Mode. For Linux desktops, we support Red Hat, Centos, Ubuntu, Mint and Linux Lite desktops as well.

VERDE 8.2 is currently hosted on Linux Red Hat/Centos version 6.9 and 7.5

Are there any restrictions on the processor types you can use to run VERDE?

Mon, 11/19/2018 - 13:51 -- Phil Mason

VERDE requires that the processor type is based on the X86 architecture. For installation of VERDE on a Red Hat/Centos 6 or 7 version OS it is important to also check the Linux compatibility list for supported processor types.  VERDE makes every effort to support new processor types with each new release of VERDE but cannot assure you that a new processor type made between VERDE releases can be supported.
