LEAF OS Now Supports Virtual Cable UDS Enterprise 4.0

As organizations look ahead to the looming Windows 10 End-of-Life (EOL) in October 2025, many are reassessing their endpoint strategy to find cost-effective, secure, and sustainable alternatives. NComputing’s LEAF OS software endpoint solution offers a compelling path forward—extending the life of existing hardware by converting aging PCs and laptops into powerful Linux-based thin clients.

We are excited to announce that LEAF OS now officially supports Virtual Cable’s UDS Enterprise 4.0, bringing expanded flexibility and integration options to organizations managing hybrid and virtual desktop environments.

What is LEAF OS?

LEAF OS is a small-footprint, Linux-based operating system designed to transform x86-64 hardware into secure, centrally managed thin clients. Whether deployed on disk or booted via USB in live mode, LEAF OS enables legacy hardware to connect securely to major VDI and DaaS platforms.

With Windows 10 approaching the end of its life, LEAF OS offers a highly affordable and eco-conscious alternative to traditional hardware refresh cycles. Organizations can retain their current devices and extend endpoint value while reducing licensing and management overhead.

Now Supporting UDS Enterprise 4.0

We are pleased to add support for UDS Enterprise, the powerful multi-platform connection broker developed by Virtual Cable. This integration opens up new possibilities for academic institutions, enterprises, and service providers seeking a flexible and cost-effective workplace virtualization framework.

What is UDS Enterprise?

UDS Enterprise is a flexible, multi-platform VDI, application virtualization, and secure remote access solution by Virtual Cable. It enables organizations to centrally deploy and manage Windows and Linux virtual desktops and apps across on-prem, hybrid, or cloud environments. With wide support for hypervisors, authentication, and protocols, UDS Enterprise provides control, scalability, and vendor flexibility. It also supports reliable remote access to physical Windows, Linux, and macOS devices.

Integration Highlights with LEAF OS

LEAF OS now includes the UDS Enterprise Client for Linux (version 4.0), which supports access to virtual desktops, applications, remote devices, and optimized Microsoft Teams performance (audio/video).

Peripheral support includes USB webcams, audio, printers, mass storage devices, smart card readers, security keys, multi-touch touchscreens, and other USB devices via generic redirection. Additionally, LEAF OS features native multi-display support with independent screen rotation.
