Does anybody come accross this problem?

PRINTER OFFLINE (EPSON LX300+II)

On 1 host PC there are 10 connected L230 clients updated with V.90.4 software and each L230 has its own printer, the EPSON LX300+II. These printers are all connnected via USB. All printers are updated with the latest driver from its manufacturer. The problem is, after some time of use we keep on encountering the printer offline error for the LX300+II printer. We troubleshoot firstt by clicking on the icon use printer online but it doesnt work. The last resort is we have to restart the Host to make it work again.

BTW the specs of the Host PC is: Intel QuadCore Processor, 4gb RAM memory, Intel Motherboard and 250gb Harddisk Drive

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

How long has the computer been up before the printer will go off line?
Do you reboot the machine at least once everyday?
Does the printer have a powersaving mode that it goes into before the 'server' loses the printer?

At least 4hrs of work and then the we will restart the host PC. We also disabled the power saving mode and the screen saver.

I meant does the printer itself have a power saving mode you can shut off?  It was really just a long shot.

I would recommend that you run a serial or parallel cable to each printer depending on the distance.  Alternatively use something like the TRENDnet - TE100-P1P.  I have always found printing from the USB port on the stations to not be reliable.

Cable length limits.

I will look for the power saving mode for the Printer. Also, Is it also possible that I will use a Parallel to USB adapter? thanks!

I don't think so.  You are still going to have the problems with the USB port consistency.  The printer you list is supposed to have all three types of connection, USB, Parallel and Serial.  Are those only options?

Other than adding additional LAN and TRENDnet - TE100-P1P, is there any work around we can do? thanks!
