when will you create an Ncomputing software that will work on a 64bit operating system.

This is the only thing that hinders us to fully maximize the memory of our servers.

as of this moment we have 45 L200 running in one server only using virtualization technology.

Hello, you could comment to us more about the configuration and virtualization software used in this network of 45 terminals

NComputing understands the value of 64-bit computing, but at this time we have no plans to expand our support to include 64-bit operating systems.  We have noted your request for future consideration.

I purchased a more powerful computer with a x64 OS so I could add more terminals until I came across this posting.  Instead, I'll be buying regular PCs and recaping my two nComputing terminals with low-end PCs.  If I understand correctly nComputing has no intention on providing x64 software and to me that means this company is not serious about competing in the "terminal" world.  Even Citrix supports x64.  I didn't check to see if nComputing was x64 compatible because any company serious about the terminal/server model would have such support today!

I'm an IT manager for a large organization and I'll defniately be looking elsewhere.  Its a shame because I though there was potential here!

Do you use 64bit windows server and 32bit virtual mashines as server for L200?

@virtualfreak: NComputing's statement about not even planning to support 64-bit computing is disheartening. It makes me wonder if we've invested in a dead horse. 64-bit computing is inevitable, just like 32-bit from 16-bit wasn't going to be stopped. The leaders in the market are those that have the foresight to develop ahead of the industry, not along with it. We made the decision to by NComputing products because they seemed ahead of the game, but now they seem to be barely keeping their heads above water.

@origo: I use 64-bit Windows Server 2003 with 32-bit virtual machines for my L230s. It seem to work fairly well.

Fortunately, the current NComputing product has a very small memory footprint and the vast majority of our customers do not see their memory requirements expanding beyond the typical 4 GB or 8 GB limits in the current 32-bit operating systems. We have thousands of large L-series deployments that work very well within these limits. As I mentioned we recognize the value of moving to 64-bit computing and as we see broader customer demand in new markets for this feature (or for other features) we’ll consider bringing those features to market. My earlier comment was not meant to state we wouldn’t move to 64-bit, it is more a matter of timing and overall demand.

It's not like 64-bit is brand new off the shelf.  Granted, plenty of things aren't 64-bit yet, but still.  And I agree with an earlier comment in that industry leaders should want to be more proactive in supporting current hardware/software.  While the nComputing devices aren't bad by any means, I see a few things missing:

no USB input devices

no gigabit support

currently no 64-bit software support for servers

video limited to VGA only  (no DVI)

I'll grant that the VGA thing isn't a big deal yet, and it's harder to cram too many ports on such a small platform.
