Stone,
You can download the NCT software, version 4.03.091.3, from www.ncomputing.com/download/l230.zip.

Try to revet back to version 4.03.090 if you have the source installer somewhere ... ( http://mairie.thorigne-fouillard.fr/download/OfficeStation-R4.03.090.zip )

Got the same message with version 4.03.091 and i can't login to the station using L200 terminal.

So, i prefer waiting for a new version which will also work with the Windows XP SP3 RTM

I had an issue with a Dell E520 workstations that would not log into the host remotely - Here is the reply from support -

Thank you for contacting NComputing Technical Support.

Although the Incompatible Module win32k.sys error message may not affect our product functionality it will continually prompt you with this "Module" error whenever the system starts up.

To remove this error message, you have to uninstall the Microsoft Security update "KB941693" through add/remove programs in the Control Panel. Make sure you select "Show updates", scroll to the "KB941693" update and hit "remove". It will prompt you stating that other updates may be dependent on this update. Disregard this, and finish the removal. the system will need to be restart and the update should be successfully removed. Make sure you turn off Auto installation of updates through "Automatic Updates" so that the update will not be reinstalled inadvertently.

For detailed instructions, please see the attachment file attached to the solution at our searchable knowledge base at:
http://www.ncomputing.com/ncomputing/support/knowledgebase.php searching for the key search words "win32k.sys KB941693", and let me know if you have any other questions.

I've tried to install software bundled with my L230 and it said it won't work with XP SP3.

I've tried to download l230.zip from link above. Successfully unpacked an archive but when I try to start setupnc.exe it says that "The program which you have started is not complete or is corrupted!"...

Any ideas?!

It is weird. I tried again and it worked. But heck. If downloaded archive was broken it should tell about it when unpacking. Shouldn't it?!??

Actually it is not unusual for a download to give no indication of an error, but then not execute properly. TCP/IP packet identification can burp sometimes and it will think all the correct packets have been downloaded, or a simple I/O write error at the finish of the download could be the culprit.

It is best to use the update program that came with your software. Here is my bullet proof way to ensure a proper update. (Used to be posted on the old Board)
1. Reboot the machine.
2. Don't let anyone log on to a terminal
3. Log in at the actual machine.
4. Start; All Programs; NCT-2000-XP; NCT-2000-XP Internet Update.
5. Hit the Options Button and choose Save Update Program on the disk
6. Click on Connect
7. Save the exe file to your hard disk

You should keep an archive of these files to enable you to go backwards if necessary.

Note, I have run into a day or two when the server is overwhelmed and I have to try again at a different time.

This is a very helpful thread but what if you don't have an archive of previous versions?

This thread specifies that if you did not update to version 4.03.090 previously, that you apply the update to v090 (or v091) before updating to this version. See article at http://www.ncomputing.com/support.aspx and search on the term “4.03.091”.

The current l230.zip file contains 4.03.094 and I'm at 4.03.090 so I'd like to find and apply the 4.03.091 update first.

For what it's worth, the internet updater can connect to the ftp and shows the current update is available, but the download box is grayed out. I'm behind a firewall and cannot connect the server PC to the internet directly without disabling the entire rest of the network, which is not feasible.

Thanks in advance,

Jack
