We recently set up a computer lab with the X300 series. When we tested the lab, we noticed that when we plugged in two or more USB drives we were unable to safely remove them.  We have assigned each X300 with a dedicated USB port on the host machine. NComputing's answer was just to have the students yank them out. We are worried that students will try to hold our IT dept. responsible if they lose any data so we aren't ready to advise them to yank them out.

Why cant the students see if the information has been stored on the USB drives first before "yanking" them out. We have been using this method for over 2 years with NO problems.

ncs,

Are you at a school? Can you tell me about your setup?

We supply many schools as well as internet Cafes with the X300, so the USB assigment is critical to its success. Students and customers usually check their data stored on the USB sticks on explorer or " My Computer" tab before exiting the PC.

We have also gotten "Delayed Write Failure" on the host machine when we were doing some testing. We plugged a USB drive in and pulled it out a bunch of times before we got the error on host machine. Another problem was that if a student does go to try and safely remove the USB device, the error message pops up on the host machine as well.

Try this setting:

select  drive (from my computer)  / (select flash drive) properties / hardware / (reselect drive again) / properties / policies
