I have an amd quad core phenom with 4gb ram running windows xp service pack 2 with all updates except service pack 3. Its running 6 stations with 2 cards with the latest ncomputing update.

I am running server 2003 SP2

The first problem is the sound. The host is the only one with sound.

The 2nd urgent problem is lockups. Everything (including the host) freezes at once after a random amount of time. from 2 minutes to 4 hours.

I have changed to a static IP address. Still no luck.

I have removed the antivirus software and updated to office 2007 sp1.

I have tried 100mb and 1gb network speeds.

Sometimes they will unfreeze after 30 mins but generally the host has to be rebooted. I have noticed that sometimes after a reboot the workstations wont come on and a reboot is needed a few times before they do.

Any ideas? This has been 2 weeks now and I have 30 frustrated kids and 1 pissed teacher.

Had a similar problem last week. Go to Start > Run, type in "msconfig" go to "services" tab and see what application is running that does not need to run and uncheck the box. Reboot and see if that helps.

Thanks for the idea. I've unticked everything I can and they are trying it out today. I shall live in hope.

The biggest problem with your setup is the 2 PCI cards in the host box and I have had the same problem with the 2 cards. My district has almost 200 AMD and Intel duel core PCs each with ONLY 1 pci card in each machine and have had no problems.

If possible only put 1 PCI card in each PC and upgrade to the .92 xtenda software. That should fix the lockups and the sound.

Also what model PC are you runing the Xtendas in? you may have a driver conflict.

Sorry its taken so long to reply.

Lockups are still happening. I am purchasing another PC and I am going to split the cards as sugested. Hope this sorts it out.

Hello All,

I have 4 Dell 755's being used as hosts for the x300 series of nComputing. The nCompuing clients will randomly lock up, usually after long periods of being idle. They each have only 1 card in them and all the latest windows updates. I tried updating the nComputing software to the latest (.98 I think) and they are still having this issue. I just reinstalled the software from scratch on one and I am waiting to see if this fixes it, though I doubt it does. Does anyone have any ideas?

Manuel
