Hi, I just ordered 2 units of L230. I am the connecting the L230s to one of my XP SP2 machine in a domain environment (Win2k3 domain controller) but when I tried to logging, L230 disconnect when I have successfully logged in. The screen jumps back to the OfficeStation firmware page when the machine is processing the logging in.

I have switched off the Windows XP Firewall and I checked the session in the driver but the driver shown that the session is not log in at all. Anyone could help me on this ??

Do you have any other Anti virus/ firewalls running?
When you log in are you logging in local or Domain?
Are the clients set for static or for dymanic IP ?

Most errors occur between the ears

Can you take the XP machine and the two L230s off the domain to see if it is a local problem or a network problem?

Here's the solution that I found :

If you have Windows XP SP3 installed, you will need to run the v90 installer in "Windows 2000 compatibility mode". This is because v90 can't run on SP3.

  1. Right click on the installer (setupnc.exe)
  2. Select Properties from context menu
  3. Select Compatibility tab
  4. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for checkbox
  5. Select from the compatibility dropdown menu Windows 2000
  6. Select Apply then OK
  7. Now run the installer

Now you can update the product to the latest version without encountering the station disconnect issue.

Hi lexiss,

Please can you post your fix you found - i have a customer trialing the L230 and is having similar problems of being disconnected when logging in.  My customer is using a VM Win XP with SP2?

What is v90 compatability mode?

Thanks in advance

Sammy

The solution is uninstall Ncomputing software, remove the computer on the domain, install the software with local administrator rights, check operation ok and re-enter the computer in the domain

the above solution doesn't solve my same problem of disconnection while logging. here is my setup.

i have 2 L230 hardware for testing. i installed one on my winxp laptop under domain and it works fine. i am very satisfied, no problem encountered.

the other one, i installed in my winxp desktop pc, which is not under domain yet. it also works fine, no problem. then i decided to join the desktop pc to our domain, and install ms office software on it. after the reboot, i tried to use my client pc to connect to the desktop server. i can see it on the list but when i click it and connect, the login screen will come and i can login. but after that, it will goes blue for a while then return back to the L320 server list. it seems like that the connection will be disconnected everytime i tried to login. i did all the suggestions, remove antivirus, disjoin in domain, uninstall some program and nothing happens. i think i reinstalled the software more than 10 times already and no positive result.

now, only the notebook is working fine. i need this to work on my desktop for my server. anybody who can help?

Hi guys, try to install the latest .97 driver. It should solved the problem once and for all as I had just experience the issue again and with .97 driver, the problem solved right away.
