You know, had you used the SEARCH button, you would have found your answer! Oh wait... That's useless now. Below is a discussion that would have been useful to review: Posted by reswobslc on 06-22-2006 at20:19: Disruption to Windows RDP functionality? Does this product work side-by-side with existing Windows RDP? I currently have Windows XP, with "xpunlimited" installed. This is a software package that allows Windows XP to be a genuine RDP terminal server without kicking the person off the console, and works very well. I tried the NComputing thin client device (the NCT 100 I believe) and I am able to install the software, but I can't log in. I can connect just fine, and I get as far as the login and password screen from the thin client, and upon entering a correct login and password, then I get booted right back out. For comparison purposes, if I enter an incorrect login and password, it tells me that it's incorrect and lets me try again. Meanwhile, RDP and XPUnlimited work just fine. There are enough RDP-compatible thin clients on the market, that if the nComputing device doesn't work, my alternative is simply to buy anyone else's thin client. My machine needs to be accessed from Win32 machines running Windows as well as thin clients, and disabling RDP is unacceptable as long as there is no "nClient" available to provide equivalent functionality. Are there any known issues or workarounds? My firewall is disabled, by the way, and the host PC is running XP Pro SP2 and has three monitors, #1 at 2560x1600, #2 and #3 are at 1200x1600 rotated 90 degrees. Mike -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by jason on 06-26-2006 at16:02: Sorry mike, but in order for our product to function correctly in your network environment you would have to uninstall "xpunlimited". When using our NStation (as opposed to RDP) it is about 4 times faster. Why must you keep "xpunlimited" (if you don't mind me asking)? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by Overseer on 06-27-2006 at05:43: RDP Usability Is this thread stating that if a user is running Windows XP Pro through a terminal that I cannot connect to their session using a windows Remote Dsktop Connection? This is one of the major advantages of XP in a domain environment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by Jhon on 06-27-2006 at07:17: RE: RDP Usability Overseer: What I'm readnig is that a user cannot use the ncomputing hardware to connect to the "ncomputing" server while running "XPUNLIMITED". To be fair, XP-Unlimited appears to be a 'hack' which removes limitations within some key files on XP-Pro to allow multiple RDP connections. I don't think Ncomputing should get 'dinged' for not playing nice with a hack. reswobslc: I've often found that the ORDER of installation plays a role in how things work. Have you tried a clean install of XP, install the Ncomputing software, test to make sure you can connect... THEN install the XP Unlimited software? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by Overseer on 06-27-2006 at09:04: Agreed I took a peek at the 'XPUnlimited'. It is not the same as XP Pro so I am going to assume that RDP through a terminal is fine. I have never heard of this software until now. Thank you for clearing this up Jhon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by Justin on 06-27-2006 at11:17: RE: RDP Usability Jhon is completely correct. In fact, the hack that XPUNLIMITED uses is based on modifying an important DLL that our product relies on. I have seen many issues in the past with hack and our product. Our product should not have any problems with RDP, just with this hack. Justin |
