Hello,

same problem here,

Only thing is that the system doesn’t freeze but when I open and close my computer the system seams to reboot, but not really the windows desktop just stops and reappears.

Every thing works even Norton ghost, but most quick start icons in de down right corner don’t reappear?

I removed the KB954211 patch but the problem with starting and closing my computer stays.

It’s not rely possible to reinstall windows fore it’s a computer that used in or optical shop.

Is there somebody who knows what to do?

Grtz Hans

Thanks to all those who replied: I decided without success to start again.

So, I now have a new, fresh system: Windows XP with SP2 installation.

I install the latest terminal software - it works for about 10 minutes... then, when I log in a terminal: The whole computer freezes - just like it was doing on the previous installation.

This is SP2 with NO further updates: and automatic updates are turned off.

Could it be an issue with 097.1?

Anyone having similar problems? Does anyone know how to download an older NCT server version to try it out?

97.1 is made for a computer with SP3 installed. If you want to stay back on SP2 you need version .90 or earlier.

In the effort to have the most common error/help requests addressed, please read below from Ncomputings website:

+++++
Incompatible Module win32k.sys / MS update KB941693 Incompatibility

Although this error message may or may not affect our product functionality it will continually prompt you with this "Module" error whenever the system starts up.

To remove this error message, you have to uninstall the Microsoft Security update "KB941693" through add/remove programs in the Control Panel. Make sure you select "Show updates", scroll to the "KB941693" update and hit "remove". It will prompt you stating that other updates may be dependent on this update. Disregard this, and finish the removal. the system will need to be restart and the update should be successfully removed. Make sure you turn off Auto installation of updates through "Automatic Updates" so that the update will not be reinstalled inadvertently.

Se detailed instructions in the attached file.

+++++

Since the new board doesn't appear to allow links or attachments (lovely upgrade), here's the link to the attached file:

Ok so now i'm getting this error on all hosts.  I've been having a great time answering phone calls of users inquiring what this is and how to get rid of it.  Unfortunatly KB941693 is not loaded on any of my hosts so therefore I cannot remove it and therfore i'm still getting this useless message that cannot be turned off.

What the weaksause?

how come ncomputing's website doesn't have software downloads or hotfix downloads?

Why when I follow the Update over the internet option do I get a Connect Error! after going through some rediculous registration process that looks like circa Windows 95?

If I don't have an answer to this whithin a week i'm going back to WYSE terminals, sure they may cost a bit more but at least I didn't have to go through this nonsense.

Remember that this is a USER forum. You need to phone Ncomputing.

Is there any way to just disable this stupid error message? It seems to work just fine so why have a stupid error message?
Anyone hear when they'll have a patch ready? The support provided for this product is so terrible.

Just got word that a new update should be available.  This update should eliminate the win32k.sys error that was being caused by the recent microsoft update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 machines.  Try running the update utility.

The .99 update does seem to take care of this problem. I've installed it on one of my servers and after watching for a couple minutes, the error message hadn't come up.
