Anybody know if it's possible to take control of the thin clients?  Basically we do most of support remotely so being able to control a users session is vital.  I have tried landesk and that just gives us access to the host computer, not the connecting clients.  I was recomended iTalc through my rep but that seems to do the exact same thing and from their own wiki it does now seem like they support thin clients.

http://italc.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Administrator_FAQ

I noticed on the L-series console I can at least get a screen shot of the desktop which is better than nothing.  On the X-series I don't even have that option so we would pretty much have to fly blind or have them logon to the host computer.  Without something like this is becomes a local only solution and it would not be something I can remotetly support very well.

I am new to this product so does anybody know of a good solution?  My guess is ncomputing is going to have to build something in the future (are they planning anything?) and it's not possible but thats just a guess.

Thanks.

controlling the terminals can be done remotely from the screen shot its self, to take over the user screen, right click the top of the user screen then choose the option of the administrator taking over the work station and take a look at the optional software called NControl.
see if that helps

I do this with PC-Anywhere, I have fantastic control of the server, however it is horribly slow in controlling the client, and locks up often.  I would ask NComputing to take a look at it, but I would rather they spend there time working on Vista right now.

KFH099 - I take it you are trying to fix your client's issues remotely.

If you can get at the server with landesk, you should be able to control the session through the built in Ncomputing software. Start,All Programs, NCT-2000-XP, NCT-2000-XP Console, software settings, Click on any session and there is a view button at the top. Once you are looking at the session you can right click at the top to control the session or you can instruct the user via phone to do what you want. Ncomputing also has a piece of software called Ncontrol. Ncontrol - is supposed to let you view and control all connected Ncomputing sessions, but I haven't seen anything on the website about the software in a really long time.

First off thank for the answers.  You can take control of the L230 exactly like hjkcga said.  It's a bit confusing you just have to know to right click on the top and choose admin control.

I tried and tried on the X300 but could not find the same options.  I called technical support and they said the X300 does not have the same capabilities so that explains why this was a dead end.  He pointed me to Italc again and I told him of my previous problems.  He told me that have some documentation and a batch file so I guess thats what I was looking for.   If anybody has direct links to this documentation it would be very helpfull.

do a google for "Dameware Mini Remote Control" works great. You can download a trial.

I tried ITalc and it was robust enough for our uses.

The tech never sent me anything, anybody know where the elusive directions are?  Trying Damware now, thanks for the idea.
