Hi,

I am thinking installing this system in my new house to share music, photos and maybe video. What are the limitations with bandwith etc.  I am going to use the L series and run it all through Cat5.  Has anybody successfully done this?  There will be about 10 units in total but i guess only a few will be used at one time. Does anyone have any thoughts.

I intend to use iTunes instead of media centre because it will then be compatible with the mac's I will have on the network, but will the L series run Microsofts Media Centre software?

Regards

Yamas

I can tell you that Quicktime does not do well in a multi-user enviromnent.....It will lock you up.

It will work. I have steamed both audio and video. I think audio is quite servicable, comparable to FM, maybe a little better. Video works. Have not really pushed the limits.

How many users/terminals do you have connected.  I have never had quicktime install and stay stable.  When ever one user logs off and another logs on another instance of quicktime loads and eventually brings the host machine down to a crawl.  I then have to re boot the unit and shut it off in the startup.

No I don't run quicktime regularly, just windows media player. I do have quicktime on my machine, and it does work, you just have to ensure that QTTASK.EXE is disabled.

You were right. How do I stop qttask.exe for putting it self in the start up. Everytime someone uses it, qttask.exe re populates in the start up.
Thanks
John

Somebody else mentioned they were having this problem. I have just gone into msconfig and unchecked it. It has stayed unchecked since the first time I did it. Are you running virtualized? I am on XP Pro SP2, but I also ran for a year and half on XP Home SP2 with the same results.
