Hi,

I  just wanted to check whether NC thin client can work on an Linux server, running LTSP, or whatever. I am planning an Thin Client setup for classrooms, where the server will be Linux, Ubuntu 8.04 preferably.

I think the stickler is the proprietary NComputing protocol. That is what makes the NComputing devices faster than traditional thin clients. Therefore, you have to use whatever software NComputing has time to develop and release to the 12 of us that want to do this.

There are more than 12...

Just 2 weeks ago in a meeting of different school corporations, there were about 15-25 technology coordinators that said they would use nComputing for 1 to 1 classroom computing inititives if it supported Linux better/easier.  They are finding solace with Userful and ONMI Desktop Multiplier instead, although I don't find Userful's solution too cost effective compared to ncomputing.
